Marib Taekwondo Team Wins Gold, 3 Silver, and Bronze at Muscat Open Challenge

Muscat, Oman - The Marib Taekwondo team secured a gold medal, three silver medals, and one bronze medal at the Open Challenge Taekwondo Championship for youth, junior, and senior categories held in Muscat, Oman, from August 30th to September 1st, 2024.

The Marib team, consisting of seven athletes, saw "Azam Sameh" win the gold in the junior individual category. The duo of Abbas al-Jahami and Mohammed Jamil secured silver and bronze, respectively, in the junior individual category. Nasr Sufan won silver in the senior individual category, while Ahmed Fouad took home silver in the men's individual category.

According to sports sources, six players were unable to participate due to delays in completing their entry visas, causing them to miss their first matches. These players included Abdulqader al-Shanah, Ahmed Harbi, Mohammed Lutfi, Adham Jamil, Yassin al-Faqihi, and Raed al-Khatib.

Following the conclusion of the championship, the Yemeni Ambassador to Oman, Khalid bin Shatif, met with the Marib team participating in the Taekwondo Challenge for youth, junior, and senior categories.

Ambassador bin Shatif welcomed the team's head, Abdullah Mohammed Batah, the team's coach, Captain Hisham al-Ghayati, and the participants. He congratulated them on their achievement of five gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.

In a conversation with the team and the delegation management, bin Shatif praised their performance in the championship, wishing them continued progress and achievements. The delegation management expressed their gratitude to the ambassador for his great interest in the team and his follow-up during the championship. They also expressed their happiness with the warm and generous reception they received.
