The Yemen Gas Company has assured the public that the closure of illegal and unauthorized gas filling stations will not disrupt the supply of domestic gas to liberated governorates across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company's CEO, Engineer Mohsen Waheth Al-Abidi, confirmed that the company is working with relevant authorities to shut down all unauthorized stations that fail to meet safety and security standards.
Al-Abidi emphasized that only officially licensed filling stations will continue to operate, providing gas to citizens. He urged the public to disregard false rumors circulating on social media regarding a gas shortage, particularly in Aden, and the disruption of supply from Sa'fer.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, during a meeting in Aden, directed the Yemen Gas Company to cease supplying gas to illegal stations, deeming it an unacceptable and intolerable violation.
Bin Mubarak highlighted that decisive measures will be taken based on the findings of an ongoing investigation, with the results and accountability of those responsible to be publicly disclosed. He stressed the need to prevent any overlap of authority between central government bodies and local authorities.
The Prime Minister underscored that the recent gas station explosion in the Mansoura district served as a wake-up call to address existing irregularities, end the chaotic situation that prevailed in the sector, hold accountable those negligent in safeguarding citizens' lives, and prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
On Friday, August 30, a gas station in the 90th Street of Mansoura district in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, exploded, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to seven others.
