The Security Committee in Taiz discusses implementing the directives of the Leadership Council and thwarting the Houthis’ plans

 The security committee of Taiz province (southwest Yemen) met on Monday, September 2, 2024, to discuss the implementation of directives issued by President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi. The directives addressed various issues, emphasizing the need for vigilance and security preparedness to thwart the plans of the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization.

The meeting, chaired by Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, was attended by Deputy Governor for Defense and Security Affairs, Abdul Karim Al-Sabry; Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis, Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Al-Majidi; and commanders of military brigades and security agencies in the province, according to the official Saba news agency.

The security committee urged its members to rise to the challenges, work with dedication and integrity, and stand firm against any disruptions that threaten the lives and public peace of citizens.

The Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis, Brigadier General Al-Majidi, briefed the committee on the situation in the military fronts. He highlighted the Houthis' continued targeting of residential neighborhoods, civilians, and military positions, emphasizing that army forces have successfully repelled all attempts and responded with appropriate force.

Taiz Police Chief, Brigadier General Mansour Al-Akhlani, presented a report on the security situation and the progress of the security campaign to prevent the carrying of weapons, aimed at combating infiltration and upholding law and order.

On August 27, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, visited Taiz province for the first time since assuming power in April 2024. He arrived from Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, accompanied by members of the Presidential Leadership Council, Othman Majli and Abdullah Al-Alimi, along with other officials. The visit was met with a large public reception.
