A young child has died after drowning in flash flood runoff in the Jebalh district of Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), local sources reported on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

The sources identified the victim as Ibrahim Nabil Abdullah Mlahi Al-Qarhazi, who drowned in a pool of floodwater in the village of "Dukhla." village in Jeblah district.

According to the sources who spoke to "Barran Press", the child was swimming in the water when he was swept away by the current. Other children who were with him were unable to save him and called for help. However, by the time adults arrived, the child had already passed away.

This incident marks the fourth child death attributed to flash floods in Yemen this week. Three children drowned in the "Sha'b Nab'a" area of the Al-Khokha district in southern Hodeidah, while another child was swept away by floodwaters in Wadi La'a in Hajjah Governorate.
