The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Zaabi, has reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the components it represents, emphasizing the UAE's commitment to the power transfer agreement reached in April 2022.

During a meeting with the head of Yemen's Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, and his deputy, Abdulmalik Al-Mikhlafi, on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, Ambassador Al Zaabi reiterated the UAE's support for the PLC in its efforts to restore the state and establish lasting peace and stability.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Al Zaabi commended the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority and its leadership, highlighting the ongoing meetings taking place in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of collective efforts to resolve all national issues and outstanding matters within a comprehensive political process.

The meeting reviewed the latest political and economic developments in Yemen, focusing on the authority's efforts to foster rapprochement among political forces, components, and parties supporting the legitimacy of the government, as well as its efforts to support and assist the PLC.

The authority's leadership highlighted the UAE's significant and positive role in Yemen, particularly in stabilizing security and combating terrorism.

In April 2022, former Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi announced what he called a "power transfer declaration," relinquishing his powers to a leadership council headed by Rashad Al-Alimi and composed of seven other members.

The PLC includes Sultan Ali Al-Arada, Tariq Mohammed Saleh, Abdurrahman Abu Zar'a, Othman Hussein Majli, Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, Faraj Salmin Al-Bahsani, and Abdullah Al-Alimi Bawazir.

The declaration stipulated the transfer of authority from President Hadi to the council, delegating to it all presidential powers to complete the tasks of the transitional phase.
