Yemen's under-17 national team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of their Saudi counterparts on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Amman, Jordan. The loss, which came with a score of 3-1, effectively ended Yemen's hopes of advancing to the semi-finals of the 11th West Asian U-17 Championship.

The match, played at the Polo Stadium, saw Saudi Arabia dominate the first half, scoring their first goal in the 12th minute and adding a second in the 40th. The Saudi team continued their pressure in the second half, securing their third goal in the 73rd minute. Yemen managed to pull one back in the 80th minute, but it was too little too late.

This victory puts Saudi Arabia at the top of Group B with 3 points, edging out Yemen on goal difference. Oman, who secured their first win against Saudi Arabia but lost to Yemen, sits in third place.

Yemen had entered the tournament with high hopes after a convincing 3-0 victory over Oman in their opening match. The team had been aiming to defend their title after winning the 10th edition of the championship in Oman last year.

The loss marks a disappointing end to Yemen's campaign, leaving their hopes of a successful title defense shattered.
