Abdelmadjid Tebboune Wins Second Term in Algerian Presidential Election

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, Algeria's National Election Authority announced that Abdelmadjid Tebboune has won a second term in the presidential election.

According to a statement released by the National Election Authority and reported by the Algerian News Agency, Tebboune received 94.65% of the votes, with a total of 5,630,196 ballots cast for the three candidates.

The presidential race featured three contenders: the incumbent president Abdelmadjid Tebboune as an independent candidate, Youssef Ouchiche, the First Secretary of the Front of Socialist Forces, and Abdelali Hassani Cherif, the leader of the Movement of Society for Peace.

Hassani Cherif garnered 3% of the votes, while Ouchiche received 2%.
