On Monday, September 9, 2024,  Dr. Abd Rabbu Miftah, the Deputy Governor of Marib in northeastern Yemen, along with Acting Director of the City District, Mohammed Al-Harazi, inaugurated the "Al-Minin" diversion dam. This dam is a crucial component of the historic Marib Dam, recently renovated alongside its canal.

The Al-Minin diversion dam boasts a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, with an 8-kilometer canal extending from the dam through the Maneen area to the Al-Hadid region. This infrastructure is expected to irrigate agricultural lands in both areas, enhance agricultural production, and increase groundwater reserves, according to the official Saba News Agency.

Miftah emphasized that the diversion dam and canal will facilitate equitable water distribution among farmers, reducing water wastage during channel flow. He noted that it will empower farmers in both the Al-Mininand Al-Hadad regions to boost agricultural output and improve groundwater levels, ultimately enhancing the livelihoods of residents, including displaced individuals and host communities.

Additionally, Moussa Abdulqader, head of the Red Cross office in Marib, highlighted that this project aligns with the Red Cross's humanitarian mission to implement sustainable interventions that benefit communities affected by war and conflict.
