On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Republic of Yemen urged the international community to recognize the State of Palestine and support its bid for full membership in the United Nations.

The meeting was attended by ambassadors of Latin American and Caribbean countries accredited to Cairo, and Assistant Secretary-General for International Affairs at the League, Ambassador Khaled al-Manzalawi, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.
Al-Akbari praised the countries that have taken the initiative to recognize and support the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and East Jerusalem as its capital.
He emphasized that this step represents a natural and legitimate right for the Palestinian people, who have struggled for over 75 years to achieve their legitimate rights, including freedom and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Akbari called on all friendly countries and international organizations to continue supporting the Palestinian cause and achieving justice for this people who suffer under the yoke of occupation, genocide, settlement expansion, and displacement.
He renewed the call to the international community and the UN Security Council to implement UN resolutions related to the Palestinian issue, obligating the occupying entity to immediately comply with international legitimacy resolutions and the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice in its rulings, ending its occupation of the Palestinian territories, and immediately and completely halting the criminal war in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which is nearing its first anniversary.
Al-Akbari stressed that the meeting embodies the spirit of cooperation and solidarity that has united the Arab peoples with the peoples of Latin America throughout history.
The meeting coincides with preparations for the upcoming UN General Assembly, aiming to support the State of Palestine in obtaining full membership.
