The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance announced on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, its readiness to engage in anything that serves the nation, but firmly rejected any discussions or decisions that fail to address the demands of Hadhramaut, as articulated by the Alliance and the Comprehensive Hadhramaut Conference.

In a concise statement seen by "Barran Press," the Alliance expressed openness to collaborating with all relevant parties and decision-makers regarding the Yemeni situation, aiming to support justice, stability, and the establishment of a state based on national principles and standards, ensuring the well-being of the country, the region, and the world.

The statement declared, "We stand firm on our land until the aspirations of the people are realized... We reiterate to all parties that any discussions or decisions that do not meet the demands of Hadhramaut, as expressed by the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance and the Comprehensive Hadhramaut Conference in their statements, are rejected and do not concern us."

In late July, the Alliance gave the Presidential Leadership Council and the internationally recognized Yemeni government a deadline to fulfill their demands for a genuine and active partnership regarding the oil reserves at the Dhaba port and the Masila field.

At the time, the Alliance, following an extraordinary meeting of its leaders, emphasized in a statement that the Presidential Council must "recognize the rights of Hadhramaut and activate the role of a genuine and active partnership represented by the Comprehensive Hadhramaut Conference, similar to other parties involved in the comprehensive settlement in the country."

In recent days, the Alliance deployed its armed forces west of the city of Mukalla, protesting what it called the Presidential Council's disregard for its demands regarding service improvements and its inclusion in political settlement negotiations. Last month, the Alliance had begun deploying armed gatherings around oil companies, claiming it was part of its plans for military escalation.

The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance was formed in July 2013, uniting various Hadhrami tribes and clans under the leadership of Saad bin Hamad bin Habrish, the leader of the "Hamoum," the largest tribe in the governorate. He was killed six months after the Alliance's formation in clashes with security forces, allegedly due to "demanding Hadhramaut's oil rights," according to a statement issued by the tribes ten years ago on the anniversary of his death.

Since then, the Alliance, currently headed by Amro bin Ali bin Habrish, has been demanding Hadhramaut's rights and its share of Yemeni oil exports, according to experts and analysts who spoke to Al-Hurra website. However, the recent statement raises further questions about whether this signifies escalating tensions, further complicating the Yemeni situation, which has been embroiled in war since 2014.
