A 40-year-old civilian was killed by a landmine in the Zahar district of Al-Bayda governorate (central Yemen) on Saturday, September 14, 2024, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Interior.
The ministry's website cited a security source stating that the landmine, planted by the Houthi group, which is designated as a terrorist organization, killed Salem al-Abd Ali al-Siqal (41) while he was tending his sheep in the outskirts of al-Bahj village in Zahar district.
Al-Bayda governorate is one of several provinces that the Houthis claim to have contaminated with landmines. It is among the most heavily affected areas, along with Hodeidah and Al-Jawf, and has witnessed frequent incidents resulting in civilian casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.
