A field source reported on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, the death of the commander of the "Bab Ghalq" front in Al-Dhale'a province (southern Yemen) during intense clashes with Houthi militants, internationally designated as a terrorist group.
The source, speaking to "Barran Press," identified the slain commander as Brigadier General "Mohammed Ali Al-Hamidi," who was killed in the early hours of Sunday during fighting north of Al-Dhale'a. The source also indicated that forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) engaged in fierce clashes lasting several hours in the same front, resulting in casualties among Houthi ranks.
On September 8th, 2024, government forces, comprised of the Giants Brigade, the National Resistance, and supporting units, achieved a significant advance in the Shawkan front in the Mawiyah district of Taiz governorate in southwestern Yemen.
This government offensive followed attempts by Houthi militants to advance in the "Ahama" area bordering Ma'awiyah, which is administratively part of the Al-Maseemir district of Lahj governorate (southern Yemen).
