The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning (NCM) has issued a weather warning for 12 Yemeni governorates, predicting varying levels of thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, starting Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The center has urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid flood channels.
According to the NCM's weather report, mountainous regions will experience cloudy skies with thunderstorms in parts of Lahj, Al-Dhale, Taiz, Ibb, Rima, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, western Sa'ada, Sana'a, Dhamar, Hajjah, and Al-Mahwit governorates. Additionally, parts of the highlands and Tihama plain are expected to see rainfall.
Scattered showers are also predicted for areas in Al-Bayda, Abyan, Shabwah, and Hadhramaut governorates.
Coastal areas are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with hot and humid conditions. Scattered rainfall is possible along parts of the southern and western coasts and the adjacent inland areas.
The NCM has issued a warning for strong winds around the Socotra archipelago, with moderate to active winds expected along the eastern and southern coasts.
The center has urged citizens in areas expected to experience rainfall to exercise caution and avoid low-lying areas and flood channels. Drivers were advised to be vigilant due to reduced visibility and potential hazards when crossing bridges.
