The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reiterated its unwavering support for Yemen and its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing war. This commitment was reaffirmed by UAE Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Hamad Al Zaabi, during a meeting with Aidarous al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and head of the Southern Transitional Council, on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The meeting, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, focused on the efforts being made to normalize life and restore security and stability to the liberated provinces. The two officials also discussed the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, benefiting both nations and their people.
The meeting highlighted the various humanitarian and development projects implemented in liberated provinces with UAE support, encompassing sectors such as energy, infrastructure, security forces, and other vital areas.
Al-Zubaidi expressed deep appreciation for the UAE's unwavering support for the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council, praising their steadfast brotherly stance alongside the Yemeni people in the past and present. He emphasized that these actions will be remembered by the Yemeni people for generations to come.
On September 9, 2024, Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad al-Alimi met with Ambassador Al Zaabi, discussing the necessary support to improve living conditions in Yemen, according to Saba. The meeting addressed national developments, bilateral relations between the two countries, and the promising prospects for strengthening ties across various fields. It also explored ways to enhance economic and service reforms in Yemen at all levels.
Al-Alimi commended the UAE's "active role" within the coalition supporting legitimacy, alongside their economic, humanitarian, and developmental interventions aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and fulfilling their aspirations for restoring state institutions, stability, development, and peace.
On September 5, 2024, Al Zaabi reiterated the UAE's continued support for the consensus reached in the April 2022 power transfer declaration in Yemen, referring to the Presidential Leadership Council and its constituent components. During a meeting with Mohammed al-Ghaithi, head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, and Deputy Head Abd al-Malik al-Mokhlafi, Al Zaabi also confirmed the UAE's support for the Presidential Leadership Council in restoring the state and achieving lasting stability and peace.
