Renewed armed clashes erupted on Thursday, September 19, between two families in Ibb governorate (central Yemen), fueled by a long-standing conflict that has lasted for nearly two years.

Local sources told Barran Press that fierce fighting broke out between the al-Shahary family on one side and the al-Damini and al-Wasli families on the other in the village of Tha'oub, Khabaaz district, in the Odain district of Ibb governorate.

The sources explained that the clashes involved medium and light weapons, marking a resumption of hostilities after a period of relative calm that lasted for several months following earlier clashes at the beginning of the year. These earlier clashes resulted in the deaths and injuries of six individuals from both sides.

Sources accused a Houthi leader known as "Abu Hussein al-Harouni" of inciting the tribal conflict between the families and hindering local tribal and community mediation efforts.

The conflict between the families dates back approximately two years, leading to the deaths and injuries of about 17 individuals from both sides, along with material damage to homes and property caused by the clashes.

In February, clashes between the al-Shahary and al-Damini families resulted in the death of Mansour Abdullah al-Shahary and the injury of five others. This occurred after a temporary truce between the parties collapsed after lasting for four weeks, according to local sources.
