On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Waad Badhib, the Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology commended Sabafon's progress in the trial broadcasts for its 4G service. He emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination between the ministry and the company to ensure better services for subscribers.

Badhib made these remarks during his visit to Sabafon's operations in Aden, Yemen's temporary capital, as the official Saba News Agency reported.

During the visit, Minister Badhib received an update from Sabafon's Director, Salmeen Qadar, and the technical team about the company’s plans and ongoing efforts to enhance communication services, including preparations for the launch of VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services.

Badhib stressed the need for the company’s leadership to meet necessary requirements in line with government directives and legal frameworks. He called for rectifying technical issues related to telecommunications and expanding international call reception for subscribers, in coordination with the relevant ministry authorities.

In August 2019, Sabafon, one of Yemen’s largest mobile phone companies, decided to relocate its headquarters and all operations from Sana'a under Houthi control to the temporary capital, Aden. This move followed a series of harassment and interference in its operations, as well as the use of its resources for the Houthi military effort.
