President Rashad al-Alimi of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council arrived in New York City on Saturday evening to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, President al-Alimi is accompanied by two members of the council, Abdullah al-Alimi and Othman Majli.
In his address to world leaders and representatives at the General Assembly, President al-Alimi is expected to discuss the current situation in Yemen, emphasizing the need for international support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government's efforts to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.
His speech will also focus on the progress of economic and institutional reforms, strategies for addressing complex challenges, and Yemen's commitment to working with regional allies and international partners to achieve sustainable development goals by 2030.
On the sidelines of the UN meetings, President al-Alimi will hold high-level discussions on the humanitarian and economic situation in Yemen, highlighting the devastating impact of Houthi attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.
