On September 26, 2024, local sources reported a significant disruption in internet and phone services, including Yemen Mobile, across large areas of Shabwa and Marib provinces in northeastern Yemen, following a sabotage incident affecting telecommunications cables.
According to "Barran Press" sources, a deliberate act of sabotage occurred on the communications cable in the "Arrah" area of the "Marakhah Al-Sufla" district, northwest of Shabwa, leading to a complete outage of Yemen Mobile, Yemen Net, and landline services in the affected regions.
The interruption has impacted several districts, including Marakhah, Bayhan, Aysilan, and Ain in northwest Shabwa, as well as Harib in southern Marib.
Sources indicated that the sabotage was allegedly perpetrated by an individual from the "Al-Sahaq" tribe, who claimed to be demanding payments and entitlements from the Shabwa Defense Forces.
