On September 26, 2024, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced the formation of an international coalition aimed at establishing a Palestinian state and implementing the two-state solution. The inaugural meeting will take place in Riyadh.

The announcement was made during a ministerial meeting in New York titled “The Situation in Gaza and Implementing the Two-State Solution as a Path to Just and Comprehensive Peace.”

“On behalf of Arab and Islamic countries, as well as our European partners, we declare the launch of the international coalition to implement the two-state solution,” Prince Faisal stated. He extended an invitation for attendees to participate in the initial meeting in Saudi Arabia to contribute to the pursuit of peace.

He emphasized the need for a concrete plan to achieve shared objectives for lasting peace. “We will make every effort to establish a reliable and irreversible path toward just and comprehensive peace,” he added.

Prince Faisal underlined the importance of collective action to take tangible steps toward an immediate ceasefire and the realization of an independent Palestinian state. He described the ongoing war in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe, highlighting serious violations by Israeli forces in the West Bank and threats to religious sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Self-defense does not justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, systematic destruction, forced displacement, and the use of starvation as a weapon of war,” he stressed, condemning documented acts of violence, including sexual violence and torture.

He affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of peace, not a negotiable outcome of a distant political process. He characterized the two-state solution as the optimal approach to breaking the cycle of conflict and suffering.
