Tragic Accident in Marib Claims Lives of Three Children and Two Women from Same Family

Marib, Yemen, September 28, 2024 — A horrific traffic accident on the international road in Marib province has resulted in the deaths of three children and two women from the same family, local sources reported on Saturday.

According to sources speaking to Barran Press, the collision occurred between two vehicles on the highway connecting the "Safer" and "Al-Erqeen" areas in the Marib Al-Wadi district. The victims included 8-year-old Saeed bin Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Luqtam Al-Shaflut, as well as two of his siblings and their aunt.

The accident also left the mother of the deceased children, Talib Ali Luqtam Al-Shaflut, with serious injuries, along with various other injuries reported among members of the Qummad family.

The crash involved vehicles belonging to both the Qammad and Luqtum families. The injured were transported to Kharah Hospital in Marib Al-Wadi and the General Hospital in Marib city. Sources confirmed that Talib Luqtum's wife has been admitted to intensive care in critical condition.

This tragic incident underscores the ongoing challenges of road safety in the region, where traffic accidents continue to pose a significant risk to families and communities.
