On October 1, 2024, the Yemeni Political Parties and Forces Alliance condemned the Israeli attacks on the city of Al-Hodeidah in western Yemen, labeling them a new violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and a blatant infringement of international laws and norms.
In a statement reviewed by "Barran Press," the alliance denounced the aerial bombardment of Al-Hodeidah in the strongest terms. The alliance expressed support for the official statement issued by the internationally recognized Yemeni government, reaffirming its commitment to defending Yemen’s sovereignty and holding Israel fully responsible for the consequences of its airstrikes, including the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis.
The alliance also held the Houthis accountable for the ongoing situation in the country and the impact on citizens, citing their reckless escalation in international shipping lanes and warning of the dangers of rising tensions in the region.
Additionally, the alliance renewed its call for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in safeguarding international peace and security, urging pressure on Israel to cease its aggression against the Palestinian people and Arab nations, and to spare the people of the region from further suffering and tragedies.
On September 30, the Yemeni government expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Al-Hodeidah , currently under Houthi control, characterizing the assault as a new infringement on Yemen’s territorial integrity and a clear violation of international law.
A government source held Israel fully accountable for any repercussions resulting from its recent airstrikes, including the deepening of the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes, allegedly supported by the Iranian regime.
On September 29, 2024, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the port of Al-Hodeidah . Local sources reported that the Israeli strikes targeted fuel tanks at the port, as well as a power station and the airport, resulting in significant explosions and plumes of smoke rising from the impacted areas.
In July, Israeli forces also targeted Al-Hodeidah port and oil storage facilities, causing widespread destruction and numerous casualties.
