The United Nations reported on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, that the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa remain operational and capable of receiving commercial and humanitarian supplies, despite facing significant challenges to relief efforts.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated at the daily press briefing that humanitarian partners have indicated that power stations throughout Hodeidah city are operating at very limited capacity. He added that fuel is being distributed to health facilities to keep their generators running, ensuring the continuation of essential health services for those in need.

In a related context, the Houthi group, classified as a terrorist organization, announced that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Hodeidah province two days ago has risen to six dead and 57 injured, with many homes and buildings reported as destroyed.

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes targeting vital sites in Hodeidah, including electricity stations, the ports of Hodeidah, Al-Hali, and Ras Khatib, as well as fuel tanks at the Ras Issa oil terminal.

In July, Israeli airstrikes targeted the Hodeidah port and oil storage facilities, as well as the power station in the port, resulting in widespread destruction and casualties from the first strikes of their kind.
