On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the General Administration for Women’s Development organized a political seminar in Marib governorate, northeastern Yemen, to commemorate the anniversaries of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions. The seminar focused on the significant role of Yemeni women in these historical events.

In his opening remarks, Ali Al-Fatimi, the deputy governor of Marib, praised the contributions of Yemeni women in igniting the September 26 and October 14 revolutions. He highlighted their active participation in achieving the goals of both revolutions and their ongoing historical struggle to defend their principles and national gains.

Al-Fatimi emphasized the current role of Yemeni women in confronting the remnants of the Imamate, which has resurfaced through the Houthi militia affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. He called for efforts to eradicate this sectarian project.

Fanda Al-Ammari, the director of the General Administration for Women’s Development in Marib, presented an overview of the heroic roles played by Yemeni women since the outbreak of the September and October revolutions, detailing their contributions to the revolutions' successes and their ongoing efforts to defend the achievements of these movements against the new form of Imamate represented by the Houthis.

Al-Ammari asserted that Yemeni women have made significant and tangible achievements in various political, economic, social, and educational fields as a result of these two revolutions.

The seminar featured three working papers discussing the tragic circumstances faced by Yemeni women during the eras of Imamate tyranny and British colonialism prior to the revolutions.

The papers also covered women’s involvement in the preparations for the September and October revolutions, detailing their active participation until the successful overthrow of the oppressive Imamate regime in northern Yemen and liberation from British colonial rule in the south.

The discussions concluded with calls for adopting national policies that ensure women’s rights, preserve their gains, and enhance their presence in decision-making circles. Emphasis was placed on the importance of focusing on girls’ education, raising societal awareness of women's issues, and empowering women to contribute to the desired development.
