On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization, announced that Monday, October 7, will be a public holiday in commemoration of the first anniversary of Hamas's "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation.

According to the Houthi version of the Yemeni news agency Saba, the Ministry of Civil Service in the Houthi-controlled, unrecognized government declared the day as a "one-time exceptional holiday" to mark the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood battle.

The "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation was launched by Palestinian resistance forces in Gaza against Israel in the early hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023. The operation included ground, naval, and aerial assaults, as well as infiltrations into several settlements near the Gaza border.
