The Yemeni Islah Party condemned the U.S. Treasury Department’s recent decision against Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, a member of the Yemeni Parliament and a senior figure in the party, calling it "unjust." The party argues that the decision aims to criminalize political and public sympathy for the Palestinian cause and intimidate those condemning the atrocities committed by Israel against the people of Gaza.

On Monday, October 7, the U.S. Treasury announced sanctions against businessman Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, along with nine of his companies and three Arab businessmen, alleging their financial support for Hamas.

In a statement published on its official website, Islah Net, and followed by Barran Press, the Islah Party expressed strong rejection and objection to the U.S. Treasury's decision, asserting that it reflects bias against a national figure with a significant record in both local and regional political activism.

The party's statement emphasized that the Treasury's decision is “arbitrary and unjust,” aiming to stigmatize those who express political and public support for the Palestinian cause. It highlighted the widespread condemnation of Israeli atrocities by the global community, including the American public.

The Islah Party called on the U.S. Treasury to revoke its decision, describing it as "biased" against a figure known for his commitment to vital issues affecting the Arab and Islamic nations. It urged Yemeni state institutions, including the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and Parliament, to defend Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, stressing that he has not violated any laws supporting the Palestinian cause in Yemen.

Moreover, the party appealed to political parties, civil society organizations, and national components to reject and condemn this decision, advocating for its annulment.

It also encouraged political and civil organizations in friendly and neighboring countries to denounce the unjust decision and call for its cancellation.

In conclusion, the Islah Party reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to resist occupation by all legal means, as recognized by international law and the United Nations Charter, until Israeli occupation is lifted and an independent Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.
