Wednesday, October 9, 2024—The National Meteorological Center issued a forecast on October 9, predicting scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity across several regions in Socotra, the Tihama Plain, and ten other Yemeni provinces within the next 24 hours.
In its daily bulletin, which was reviewed by Barran Press, the center indicated that the weather will range from clear to partially cloudy with cooler temperatures in the mountainous areas during the early morning hours, with a likelihood of thunderstorms in parts of the provinces of Lahij, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and western Saada.
Additionally, there is a chance of scattered rains in parts of the provinces of Abyan, Al-Dhale, western Dhamar, and the inland highlands adjacent to the eastern coast.
The center also anticipates occasional thunderstorms on parts of the Tihama plain, western coastal areas, and the Socotra Archipelago, along with moderate to active winds ranging from 10 to 20 knots.
The forecast further suggests clear to partially cloudy weather in desert areas, with moderate winds stirring up dust and sand.
The Meteorological Center has warned against staying in low-lying areas and flood paths during and after rainfall, as well as from thunderstorms, due to reduced visibility caused by heavy rainfall and the formation of dense cumulonimbus clouds.
