During his recent visit to Marib, Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak noted several critical observations regarding the displacement camps in the region, which currently hosts over 2 million displaced individuals. His comments came during a meeting held in Aden, the country’s temporary capital, with the executive unit managing the displacement camps.

Bin Mubarak emphasized the need to incorporate these observations into upcoming plans, particularly in terms of establishing partnerships with international organizations and humanitarian agencies involved in addressing the displacement crisis.

He directed the formulation of a unified national plan that integrates the efforts of the government with those of international and humanitarian organizations to effectively address the needs of displaced persons and returnees. This strategy aims to ensure that humanitarian requirements are met and to resolve any issues hindering the delivery of aid.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over the decline in international support for humanitarian efforts, particularly for the nearly 3 million displaced persons fleeing from the Houthi movement, which is designated as a terrorist organization. He stated that this reduction in support exacerbates the burdens on the Yemeni government.

In light of this, bin Mubarak called on the international community and relevant humanitarian organizations to take a more active role in supporting the government’s efforts to meet the needs of displaced individuals, advocating for assistance that reflects the magnitude of the crisis.

According to the official news agency, bin Mubarak praised the executive unit’s work and its presence on the ground, highlighting the importance of coordinating efforts with various government ministries to enhance services provided to the displaced.

Najeeb Al-Saadi, head of the executive unit for managing displacement camps, presented a report on the unit's performance since its reactivation in Aden, outlining the national policy for addressing displacement in Yemen. He reported that the unit operates in 105 districts across 13 provinces, managing 657 camps and 1,112 displacement areas, with a total of 2,898,000 displaced individuals.

Al-Saadi also shared the unit’s future plans, focusing on three main areas: strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing transparency and quality, and preparing for sustainable solutions for displaced persons.

In late September, bin Mubarak visited Marib alongside several ministers, coinciding with the 62nd anniversary celebrations of Yemen’s 26th September Revolution. During this visit, he held meetings with local authorities and military leaders, participated in the inauguration of various developmental projects, and inspected several displacement camps.
