Local sources reported on Wednesday that internet and mobile phone services, including Yemen Mobile, have been completely disrupted in large areas of Shabwa and southern Marib for the second consecutive day.
According to information provided to Barran Press, there has been a total outage of ADSL internet, 4G wireless services, and fixed-line communications in the districts of Marakhah, Bayhan, Aysilan, and Ayn in northwestern Shabwa, as well as in the Hreib district in southern Marib, with the cause of the disruption still unknown.
The sources indicated that the outages coincide with reported sabotage of a fiber optic cable between the districts of Hawsin and Al-Ghaydah in the eastern province of Al-Mahrah. This incident has severely affected internet and fixed-line services, as well as Yemen Mobile operations in the provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahrah.
In late September, a similar act of sabotage targeted the communications cable in the Arrah area of Marakhah Al-Sufla district in northwestern Shabwa, leading to outages in the same regions of Shabwa and Marib.
