Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Thursday to continue simplifying procedures to support private sector involvement in economic reforms. He emphasized the need to complete the ministry's electronic portal and enhance data and information management.

This directive came during his visit to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's headquarters in Aden, the temporary capital, where he assessed the operations of various departments responsible for registering companies, trademarks, agencies, and foreign branches, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

The visit aimed to monitor the ministry's implementation of government priorities within the reform agenda, focusing on services provided to the commercial and industrial sectors, as well as its regulatory efforts on various consumer goods.

During the visit, bin Mubarak urged the creation of an exemplary partnership model with the private sector, advocating for a shift from consumer investments to productive investments while supporting entrepreneurs. He stressed the ministry's role in taking measures to prevent practices that harm citizens and the national economy.

He listened to general directors and specialists within the ministry, who provided insights into their responsibilities in consumer protection, industrial development, and supporting entrepreneurs, along with services offered to investors, traders, and manufacturers.

Additionally, bin Mubarak held a meeting with Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed Al-Ashwal and his deputy, discussing the ministry's role in domestic trade, consumer protection, and modernization programs aimed at improving overall performance in service of the economic sectors.

The meeting also addressed plans for effective monitoring of supply and pricing issues, collaboration with traders to ensure sufficient strategic reserves of essential goods, and promoting national production and exports.

Following this, bin Mubarak visited the Public Prosecution Office of Industry and Trade, where he received a briefing from acting prosecutor Somaya Al-Qabati on the office's efforts to combat commercial fraud and protect consumers from substandard products and medicines. The meeting highlighted ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to address challenges facing the commercial sector.
