The Yemeni Ministry of Interior, part of the internationally recognized government, announced the death of a soldier in Modyah District, Abyan Province, southern Yemen.
According to the ministry's security media, the Abyan Police reported that terrorist elements shot and killed a 30-year-old soldier (S.A.A. Al-Dhamah Al-Rubizi) from the Al-Ain area of Loder while he was serving in the Second Support and Reinforcement Brigade.
The Abyan Police indicated that Al-Rubizi was targeted by snipers, believed to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda, in the Modyah area of Omaran.
The police stated that the soldier's body had been handed over to his family by the brigade leadership, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the terrorist elements involved. As of now, no statement has been issued by the Southern Transitional Council, which considers the Sixth Support and Reinforcement Brigade part of its forces deployed in the central region of Abyan since the launch of Operation "Eastern Arrows" aimed at pursuing Al-Qaeda two years ago.
