For the first time in Yemen, the city of Aden, designated as the temporary capital, will host the third Arab Arm Wrestling Championship for both genders from November 25 to 30, 2024. The event is organized by the Yemeni General Federation for Strength Sports and Arm Wrestling under the supervision of the Arab Federation for the sport.
According to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Minister of Youth and Sports Nayef Al-Bakri met with the president of the Yemeni Arm Wrestling Federation, Arhab Yassin, to review the final preparations for the championship.
Minister Al-Bakri affirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting the event, emphasizing the importance of overcoming any challenges to ensure its success and to present a positive image of Aden and Yemen.
Yassin outlined the arrangements made to facilitate the championship, noting that nine Arab teams have confirmed their participation, including those from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Somalia, and Djibouti.
The championship will feature around 300 male and female competitors across various weight categories, including youth (ages 18-23), men (over 23), masters, and athletes with disabilities. Additionally, a super cup championship titled "Arab Champions Championship" will be held.
