On Sunday, October 13, 2024, local sources reported that the Al-Abdiyah tribes have surrounded a Houthi prison in southern Marib to prevent the transfer of their detained members to the Dhamar Governorate. This action follows widespread arrests by the Iranian-backed Houthi group against individuals who lit the flame commemorating the September 26 Revolution.

According to sources speaking to Barran Press, the Houthis targeted residents in Al-Abdiyah who had participated in lighting the flame at their homes in honor of the revolution earlier in September. In response, the Al-Abdiyah tribes mobilized to encircle the prison, determined to stop the Houthis from relocating the detainees.

As of the evening of Sunday, the tribes continued their blockade of the prison, which reflects their escalating opposition to Houthi actions. The Houthis have been conducting extensive arrests in the region, targeting journalists, activists, and citizens in areas under their control, coinciding with the celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which overthrew oppressive Imamate rule and established a republican system based on freedom, democracy, and equal citizenship.
