Ahmed Bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, expressed his desire for increased British support for the government and the Yemeni people amid "exceptional" circumstances that demand heightened humanitarian and service commitments.
This statement came during a phone call with Hamish Falconer, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, according to the official Yemeni news agency, Saba.
During the conversation, Bin Mubarak highlighted the longstanding relations between Yemen and the UK, emphasizing opportunities for strengthening cooperation across various sectors. He acknowledged the UK's supportive role for the Yemeni government and its commitment to peace in the region.
The Prime Minister reiterated the UK's consistent position alongside the Yemeni people, aiming to alleviate their humanitarian suffering and fulfill their aspirations for the restoration of state institutions, security, stability, and development.
Both officials reviewed the latest national, regional, and international developments, discussing their countries' stances on issues, including the need to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, which poses serious threats to regional and global security. They also addressed ongoing Houthi attacks on commercial vessels and international navigation.
In response, Hamish Falconer reaffirmed the UK's support for the Yemeni government and its efforts to implement reforms and alleviate humanitarian hardships, highlighting the UK's commitment to promoting peace and stability in Yemen.
