Abdullah Al-Qubaisi, Deputy Minister of Local Administration, described Major General Abdulrab Qassem Al-Shaddadi as a quintessential republican leader whose heart and mind were dedicated to Yemen. His remarks coincided with the eighth anniversary of Al-Shaddadi's martyrdom, who was killed on October 7, 2016, while leading battles against the Houthi group in the Sirwah front of Marib province.

In a video statement to Barran Press, Al-Qubaisi, a former commander in the Marib Resistance, praised Al-Shaddadi as an inspiring leader alongside fellow military commanders dedicated to the republic. He emphasized that Al-Shaddadi possessed a remarkable character that is hard to forget or fully describe.

Regarding Al-Shaddadi's military role, Al-Qubaisi noted that he was an exceptional figure who was always present where he was needed. “When the nation called upon him in the military domain, he never hesitated and clearly defined his stance from the very first moment of the coup and the disruptive elements involved,” he stated.

Al-Qubaisi highlighted Al-Shaddadi's inspiring character not only in military matters but also in humanitarian aspects. He recalled how Al-Shaddadi maintained close relations with his soldiers, peers, and the general public despite his numerous responsibilities.

Reflecting on his time in the Sirwah district, Al-Qubaisi remembered Al-Shaddadi’s unwavering commitment to communicating with military leaders, ensuring that he was always aware of the situation on the ground. He never missed a day, demonstrating his dedication amidst the chaos.

Despite his military commitments, Al-Shaddadi was also a devoted figure in his community, regarded as a father figure to his people, valuing everyone without exception, even during difficult times.

Al-Qubaisi acknowledged Al-Shaddadi's significant contributions, stating, “His role was immense and recognized by all. No matter how much we discuss his contributions, we cannot fully repay him.” He added that Al-Shaddadi and his fellow leaders were not confined by geography or tribal affiliations; they were national leaders deserving of such recognition.

“Yemen was always present in his thoughts, as was the development of the army, and he paid attention to the finest details,” Al-Qubaisi said, noting that Al-Shaddadi left this world without having fully realized his potential but carried a noble vision that benefits the people of Marib and Yemen.

He elaborated on Al-Shaddadi's role in the Marib resistance and the establishment of the military, emphasizing that the resistance served as the first line of defense for the republic. Al-Shaddadi was actively involved in supporting and planning for the resistance while also training and establishing military units.

Al-Qubaisi recalled Al-Shaddadi sending military personnel to support the resistance efforts, providing training and maintenance for weapons, and ensuring effective leadership during battles.

He also highlighted Al-Shaddadi's extensive relationships and how he utilized them for the benefit of the front lines, collaborating with tribal leaders, youth, and officers who arrived in Marib, and integrating them into military units.

In a message to the people of Yemen, Al-Qubaisi urged them to draw inspiration from Al-Shaddadi's vision as a significant national project. He called for unity, urging the public to set aside differences and superficial thinking to continue the fight against the oppressive militia.

“Al-Shaddadi was a great man, and we must embody that greatness and mindset, renewing our commitment to liberate Yemen from this tyrannical militia,” he concluded.
