Hamas officially announced on Friday the martyrdom of its political bureau chief, Yahya Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim), during a confrontation with Israeli forces.

Hamas political bureau member Khalil al-Hayya mourned Sinwar, stating he fell "engaged in combat against the Israeli army." He emphasized that Israeli prisoners would not be returned until the aggression against Gaza ceases.

In a recorded statement, al-Hayya declared, "We mourn Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, who rose as a martyr, weapon in hand." He highlighted Sinwar's determination, noting that he fought "against the Israeli occupation army until the last moment of his life."

Al-Hayya praised Sinwar's leadership during the conflict, stating that he was always at the forefront, moving between combat positions, steadfastly defending Gaza and Palestine. He reiterated that the return of Israeli prisoners is contingent upon the complete withdrawal from Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners from detention.
