A young girl was killed and a boy injured due to the explosion of landmines left by the Houthi group, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization, in Al-Hodeida hprovince, western Yemen.

According to the Yemeni Landmine Monitor, a post shared on social media platform X and reviewed by Barran Press, 13-year-old Yusuf Talal Farhan was severely injured when a Houthi landmine detonated near his family home in the village of Maghary in the Hays district of southern Al-Hodeidah. The monitor confirmed that Farhan suffered severe injuries to his feet and an open fracture in his left leg, necessitating his transfer to a hospital for treatment.

Additionally, human rights sources in Al-Hodeidah reported that a landmine planted by the Houthis claimed the life of 20-year-old Najiba Hassan Saeed Marzouqi, west of the village of Marazqa in the lower Al-Jah area, southwest of Bayt al-Faqih.

UN reports indicate that the Houthi group has planted approximately two million landmines across various regions under its control, resulting in the deaths and injuries of over 20,000 civilians, the majority of whom are women and children. rights reports accuse the Houthis of "turning Yemen into the largest minefield in history" and call for the group to provide maps of the landmines they have planted to organizations working in mine clearance.
