The Yemeni Islah Party expressed its condolences on Saturday to the Palestinian people and Hamas following the death of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas' political bureau, who was killed alongside other leaders of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
In a statement released on its official website and shared with "Barran Press," the Islah Party hailed Sinwar as an exceptional leader who died fighting alongside his people while bearing arms. The party reiterated its "firm and unwavering stance" in support of the Palestinian cause and the bravery of its resistance.
The statement emphasized that this position aligns with the official and popular stance of the Republic of Yemen, which has historically supported the Palestinian struggle. The Islah Party affirmed that it "has always stood and will continue to stand by the Palestinian right and its valiant resistance in the legitimate fight to reclaim historical rights and sovereignty, ultimately aiming to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital."
On Friday, October 18, 2024, Hamas announced the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar during clashes with Israeli forces in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip. In a speech, Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya confirmed Sinwar's death and vowed to continue the fight against occupation.
The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, also released a statement confirming Sinwar's martyrdom and pledged to persist in "jihad" until "the liberation of Palestine."
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli military announced that Sinwar was killed in a field confrontation in southern Gaza. They reported that their forces had identified and killed three Hamas members during an engagement in the Tal al-Sultan area, later confirming Sinwar's identity through DNA analysis.
Israeli media circulated images of Sinwar's body on the battlefield, clad in military gear and armed. His death has sparked widespread reactions on social media across the Arab world and beyond, with his name trending globally.
