Authorities at the Shihen Customs Port in Al-Mahra Governorate, eastern Yemen, have successfully intercepted a shipment containing 3,975 concealed weapon parts, according to the Director of Shihen Customs, Thabit Awad.

In a statement published by the official Saba News Agency, Awad confirmed that customs officials, in collaboration with security agencies, foiled an attempt to smuggle these parts, specifically for Kalashnikov rifles, on Thursday. He noted that appropriate legal measures were taken in accordance with customs laws and national regulations regarding smuggling prevention.

“This achievement is part of a series of successes by Shihen Customs in recent times, reflecting our ongoing efforts to combat the trafficking of prohibited goods, including parts related to drones and weaponry,” Awad stated.

He also reiterated the commitment of state leadership, the government, and the Ministry of Finance to prioritize training and equipping customs personnel, particularly those working at various entry points. This initiative aims to enhance their operational capabilities and leverage the latest technologies to strengthen anti-smuggling efforts and achieve significant results.
