A soldier was killed and seven others were injured on Monday, October 21, 2024, when their military vehicle was struck by an explosive device in the Modya district of Abyan province, southeastern Yemen.
Military sources reported to "Barran Press" that the explosive targeted a military truck supplying the 3rd Support and Reinforcement Brigade affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC). This brigade is part of an ongoing operation known as "Eastern Arrows," launched by the STC a year ago to combat Al-Qaeda in the region.
The explosion resulted in the immediate death of one soldier, while seven others were transported to hospitals in Aden due to serious injuries. Sources suspect that the attack may have been carried out by elements of Al-Qaeda.
As of 4 PM, no official statement had been released by the STC forces or the Abyan police regarding the incident. In recent months, authorities have reported similar attacks in the central districts of Abyan, including Modya, Lawdar, and Wadi’a.
On October 17, two soldiers were killed and seven more wounded in another bombing that targeted a military vehicle belonging to the 103rd Brigade of the Abyan Axis in the village of Al-Buqayrah, east of Modya.
