An security meeting held on Monday, October 21, 2024, chaired by Major General Abdulmajid Al-Amari, the Deputy Minister of Interior for Civil Services and Civil Status, approved the establishment of a central electronic ID card issuance center in the Harib district of Marib province, northeastern Yemen.

The meeting, which took place in the city of Marib, included several security leaders, the acting director general of Harib district, Masfer Al-Sader Al-Aqili, and the director of the Civil Status Office in Harib, Ali bin Ali Al-Quraishi. Discussions focused on various issues affecting local residents, particularly the establishment of the electronic ID card center and the mechanisms for its implementation and coordination.

Major General Al-Amari stated that the meeting was part of an initiative aimed at enhancing government services in Marib. He emphasized that the creation of this center is a priority for the ministry to facilitate citizens' access to electronic IDs.

Masfer Al-Sader, acting director general of Harib, praised the role of Marib Governor Sultan Al-Aradah in establishing the ID issuance center to meet the district's needs, commending the government's efforts to expedite the center's creation.

In a statement to "Barran Press," Al-Sader noted that the establishment of the personal ID issuance center and the activation of automated issuance and smart cards in Harib is a pressing necessity. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with government directives over the past months, particularly from Governor Al-Aradah.

Al-Sader pointed out that Harib is the largest district in Marib in terms of population and requires a dedicated center for issuing ID cards, especially given the difficult travel conditions between Harib and the city of Marib.

He added that the new center will help meet citizens' needs for electronic IDs and reduce congestion at issuance centers in the city of Marib.

Al-Sader confirmed that work is ongoing to expedite the establishment of the center, with several meetings held with local security and civil status offices to discuss implementation mechanisms and coordination among the relevant authorities.
