On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the city of Marib in northeastern Yemen witnessed a large-scale protest rally in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in condemnation of the ongoing atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, which have persisted for over a year.

Thousands of citizens participated in the rally, which began at Al-Qardhi Roundabout and traversed the streets of the city. Demonstrators carried national and Palestinian flags, as well as signs expressing their outrage at Israeli occupation crimes.

The statement issued during the rally strongly condemned the passive stance of countries worldwide that observe the ongoing "genocide" against the Palestinian people, particularly the events occurring in the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza.

The statement denounced the ongoing war of extermination and ethnic cleansing against civilians, including children and women, which has been relentless for the past two weeks. It described these actions as a blatant violation of humanitarian laws and international agreements, as well as fundamental human rights principles, aimed at enforcing forced displacement and eliminating the Palestinian cause.

The protesters expressed their disappointment over the severe Arab and Islamic impotence that has emboldened the enemy to continue its colonial ambitions. They urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations, and international criminal courts, to utilize their powers to halt the brutal massacres and Nazi-like genocide being perpetrated against Palestinian civilians. The statement emphasized the need for accountability for crimes against humanity and violations of international law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The rally welcomed the Gulf-European Summit's call to open borders for humanitarian aid and to establish a ceasefire, asserting that this requires obligating the occupying entity to end its war of extermination and comply with international will. It reaffirmed the solidarity of the Yemeni people, across all political factions and community groups, with the Palestinian people and their just cause.

The statement called on political leaders, social activists, human rights organizations, and all free individuals worldwide to condemn the occupation's atrocities, which contradict all international and humanitarian norms and laws. It characterized the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, who aspire to liberate their land and establish their state, as a blatant challenge to peace initiatives and international resolutions.

Demonstrators praised the resilience and sacrifices of the Palestinian people in their struggle for legitimate rights, noting that the Palestinian community is paying a heavy price through the loss of their sons and leaders, who are writing the history of the nation with their blood in defense of their freedom and independence.

They highlighted the recent life of martyr Yahya Sinwar as a representation of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Palestinian people in their quest for liberation. They declared that Sinwar's final moments immortalized him as a global revolutionary icon, adding to his record of victories against his enemies despite his passing.

For nearly a year, Marib has hosted solidarity events supporting the Palestinian struggle against the destructive aggression of the Israeli occupation, bolstered by unprecedented American and Western support. Hundreds from various social, political, and civil society sectors, along with university students, have participated in these protests, reflecting Yemen's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.
