The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center signed a joint cooperation agreement on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with the United Nations World Food Programme to provide food assistance to the most vulnerable families in Yemen, with a total cost of $25 million.

The agreement was signed during the donor conference aimed at supporting displaced persons and refugees in the Sahel region and Lake Chad, according to the Yemeni news agency Saba.

Under the agreement, food assistance will be delivered through the distribution of 13,798 tons of essential food items. Additionally, the program will support resilience-building activities by providing conditional cash transfers to participating families, enabling them to create and rehabilitate assets that support the food value chain over six cycles.

These activities include rehabilitating agricultural land, constructing water barriers, and supplying fishermen with the necessary equipment. The initiative is expected to benefit 546,364 individuals directly and 57,313 individuals indirectly in the governorates of Al Hudaydah, Al Dhale'e, Marib, Al Bayda, Hadramout, Al Mahrah, and Socotra.
