On Thursday, October 24, 2024, leaders from the General People's Congress (GPC) issued a warning regarding decisions that could lead to unbalanced gains, emphasizing the need for a political solution that preserves national sovereignty.
This statement was relayed by the office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen via a brief post on platform X, highlighting ongoing political dialogues with various Yemeni parties to determine necessary steps for advancing commitments made by the involved factions and to initiate the political process.
The GPC stressed during discussions that unifying the Central Bank is a critical starting point for economic stability and reducing tensions. They advocated for transparent measures to build trust and secure robust international guarantees to propel progress toward peace in Yemen.
In its monthly briefing, the UN envoy's office noted that dialogues commenced earlier this month with a range of Yemeni stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to generate momentum for a comprehensive and peaceful resolution to the conflict.
These meetings, held in Amman, Jordan, included discussions with representatives from various political entities, including the Al-Rashad Party, the Nasserite Unionist Organization, the Yemeni Socialist Party, and members of civil society.
The envoy's office reported a broad consensus during these sessions on the importance of transparency and inclusive discussions to establish a roadmap for peace.
