On Tuesday, October 26, 2024, Deputy Minister of Education Ali Al-Abab emphasized the importance of safeguarding future generations from sectarian myths associated with the Imamate and enhancing national identity. He called for the revision of educational curricula to ensure they promote enlightened thought and align with the aspirations of future generations.

Al-Abab made these remarks during a forum organized by the Education Office in Marib Province in collaboration with the Qalam Foundation for Thought and Culture, as reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

He stated that the Houthi militia has systematically destroyed the educational sector since their takeover of state institutions, aiming to alienate youth from their national identity and replace it with a sectarian Persian identity.

The Deputy Minister urged educational leaders to counter the Houthi project’s racist ideology with enlightened thinking, instilling the principles and values of the Republic and reinforcing national consciousness. He also highlighted the significance of the goals of the September and October revolutions.

During the forum, which was held under the slogan “Protecting Generations from the Myths of Deceptive Imams,” several speakers emphasized the need to support teachers and implement activities focused on intellectual engagement.

Participants noted that the Houthi group aims to destroy education in Yemen and deprive generations of knowledge to control their minds and direct them toward narrow objectives.

They called for collective efforts to confront this challenge and protect future generations from extremist ideas that threaten Yemen’s future.

Attendees included Member of Parliament Abdullah Sa'tar, Al-Jawf Governorate's Deputy Abdullah Al-Hashedi, along with school directors and activity coordinators.
