IBB, YEMEN — On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, local sources reported the death of a Houthi gunman during skirmishes that erupted between the Iran-aligned group and qat sellers in the city of Ibb, located in central Yemen.

According to sources who spoke to "Barran Press," the clashes began over a dispute involving tax collection related to qat sales at one of the city's northern entry points. The confrontation involved light weaponry, including Kalashnikovs and pistols.

The altercation centered around an individual identified as "Mubarak Abdullah," who detained qat belonging to a seller named "Mustafa Al-Warafi" over a disagreement regarding the tax amount. The dispute escalated into a shooting exchange between the Houthi militants and the qat vendors.

Sources confirmed that the tax collector for the Houthis, known as "Mubarak Abdullah" (nicknamed Abu Al-Hassan) and a resident of the Anas district in Dhamar Province, was killed during the exchange.

"Baran Press" obtained video footage from surveillance cameras capturing the violent encounters between the Houthi fighters and the qat sellers.
