On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Engineer Saleh Al-Saqaf, the Director General of the Planning and International Cooperation Office in Marib, met with a delegation from the French Islamic Relief Organization (SIF) to discuss collaboration and the implementation of a food security project aimed at supporting displaced and affected families in the region.
During the meeting, Al-Saqaf welcomed the establishment of a main office for SIF in Marib, expressing the local government's readiness to facilitate the work of organizations operating in the area, in accordance with national laws and regulations.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination with the organization to expand humanitarian projects in the province, highlighting the urgent need for programs that address the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the host community.
Al-Saqaf provided a detailed overview of the situation in Marib, which hosts over three million people, including a significant number of IDPs. He outlined the growing gap in needs despite the commendable efforts of various organizations.
The SIF delegation, led by Arungwa Mungi, included administrative coordinator Mohammed Amer Reda, procurement officer Mohammed Ahmed Qassem, and public relations officer Wael Wahid.
