The Specialized Eye Hospital affiliated with the King Salman Center in Marib province announced on November 3, 2024, that it has provided a total of 43,682 free medical services to eye patients over the past three months.
The hospital's services have catered to internally displaced persons, the host community, African refugees, and visitors from other Yemeni provinces. The outpatient clinics received 10,766 cases during this period.
According to statistics released by the hospital for the fourth quarter of its fourth operational phase, a total of 1,488 various surgical procedures were performed, along with the provision of over 19,000 doses of medication and the distribution of 6,000 pairs of eyeglasses. Additionally, essential laboratory tests and imaging studies were conducted.
The report highlighted that the laboratory provided 3,252 free laboratory tests for eye patients, and 2,520 patients benefited from other diagnostic services.
Hospital Director Ahmed Al-Omari stated, as reported by the official Yemeni News Agency Saba, that the hospital has been offering all its services free of charge since its establishment, aiming to combat blindness and reduce the incidence of visual impairments.
He emphasized the positive impact of the hospital's services in alleviating the suffering of eye patients and the visually impaired within the province's displaced population and host community.
