"Hassan Farhan Bin Jalal" Football Tournament Kicks Off in Marib

The "Hassan Farhan Bin Jalal" football tournament for local teams commenced in Marib city on November 3, 2024. Organized by the Youth and Sports Office of Marib City, the tournament features 15 teams in its second phase.

During the tournament's launch, Marib Governorate Deputy Abd Rabbo Muftah expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its significance as a tribute to the heroism and sacrifices of the late Hassan Farhan Bin Jalal, who dedicated his life to the war effort and fought against the Houthi forces.

Mohammed Saleh Farhan, the Director General of Marib City, noted that the tournament serves to honor a great leader and reflects the ambitions of the youth in Marib to protect their homeland and safeguard its achievements. He highlighted the tournament's role in fostering skill development and competitive spirit among participating teams.

Majid Al-Mousawi, Director of the Youth and Sports Office in Marib City, explained that the first phase of the tournament saw participation from 22 teams, with 15 advancing to the current stage, divided into five groups. The winning team from each group will progress to the final rounds of the tournament, which is set to run until the end of November.

The opening ceremony was attended by key officials, including Nasr Al-Ahmadi, Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ali Al-Jabal, Technical Office Director, and other local dignitaries.
