The public relations office of the Quds Base of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps reported on November 4, 2024, the deaths of one of its commanders and a pilot following an aircraft crash during combat operations in the southeastern border area of Sirkan.

According to the Mehr News Agency, a lightweight Gyroplane belonging to the Ground Forces of the Revolutionary Guard encountered an accident while conducting combat missions in the region.

The statement confirmed that Brigadier General Hamid Mazandarani, the commander of the Nineveh Brigade in Golestan province, and pilot Hamid Jandqi lost their lives in the incident, as reported by the German news agency DPA.

This incident recalls the tragic death of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials, perished in a helicopter crash on May 20 while flying over East Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran.
