On November 4, 2024, the local authority in Marib province held discussions with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regarding its humanitarian intervention plans for the upcoming year, 2025. The focus was on priorities for supporting economic recovery and community resilience.

The meeting, attended by Dr. Abd Rabbu Miftah, Deputy Governor of Marib, and Faria Rady, ICRC Operations Manager in Yemen, along with Abdul Jalil Abdullah, head of the Red Cross office in Marib, aimed to enhance humanitarian partnerships and continue development projects in the region.

Miftah expressed the local authority's eagerness to strengthen collaboration with the Red Cross, particularly in health and agriculture sectors, to improve living conditions for displaced individuals amid dire economic circumstances.

He emphasized the necessity of expanding Red Cross interventions, especially programs aimed at protecting released detainees, providing medical care, and supporting livelihoods for those who have lost their sources of income. He also stressed the importance of establishing an emergency stockpile in the province to respond to potential disasters.

In turn, the head of the Red Cross office in Marib outlined recent interventions and projects, including food security support, medical facility assistance, farmer training programs, and awareness campaigns regarding the dangers of war remnants.

Rady assured that the ICRC would continue its operations and humanitarian activities in Marib next year, focusing on sustainable development, particularly in health services, farmer support, and water projects in rural areas and agricultural districts, prioritizing assistance for the most vulnerable populations.
